Special Upcoming Events at St. John’s!
Ham and Turkey Dinner: The Ham and Turkey Dinner has been an annual tradition here are St. John’s for over half a century! Our St. John’s Brotherhood sponsors this annual event which features roasted turkey and bake ham, homemade (well, church-made, actually) mashed potatoes, all the traditional trimmings, deserts and drinks, and all for only $13.00 for adults, $6.00 for kids 6-12, and kids 5 and younger eat for free! Senior citizens and veterans will only be $12.00. The dinner will be held this year on Saturday, November 11th, and we’ll have seatings at 5:00 and 6:30 pm.
Advent Celebration: Last year we tried something new here at St. John’s, our Advent Celebration, and it was such a great success that we’re going to bring it back this year as well! The fun will begin on Saturday, December 2nd, as we will gather in the Sanctuary to decorate the church for the holiday season. There will be garlands to hang, wreaths to put up, and one REALLY big Christmas tree to decorate. Following the decorating we’ll all head down to our Fellowship Hall for refreshments and Christmas cookies. Then following the 10:30 service on Sunday the 3rd, we’ll all gather to share a special Advent potluck dinner. And there’s going to be one more special part of our Advent Celebration, and that is . . .
Our Annual Advent Concert Featuring Craig Thatcher and Friends: Yes, Craig Thatcher and his musical friends will be coming back to St. John’s and we could not be more excited. Last year’s concert was a tremendous success, and we’re hoping for an even better time this year. If you know anything about music in the Lehigh Valley you know about Craig, a dedicated Christian and one of the world’s finest guitarists and an international representative for Martin Guitars, and if you don’t know about Craig, well, then you’ll just have to come out for our Advent Concert and find out for yourself! The concert will be on Sunday, December 3rd, beginning at 2:00 pm, and following the concert there will be more refreshments (with more Christmas cookies) in our Fellowship Hall.
